Posted By Godwin Bowman & Martinez || Mar 28, 2018
DALLAS – Noted Texas trial and appellate law firm, Godwin Bowman & Martinez PC, has announced that four of its Shareholders, Donald E. Godwin, Bruce W. Bowman Jr., Jenny L. Martinez, and George R. Carlton Jr. have been selected to the 2018 Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America. In addition, Lawdragon has chosen Shareholder, Todd Shadle, among those receiving its 100 Most Powerful Employment Lawyers honors.
2018 is the fourth consecutive year that firm Chairman and CEO, Donald E. Godwin, has received this exceptional honor. Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Mr. Godwin has built an enviable reputation for his success in high-stakes, complex litigation involving oil and gas, environmental matters, fiduciary duties, will contests, major family law disputes and business torts. He is also recognized as a master negotiator in high-risk disputes involving corporate executives and legal departments, as well as other high-profile individuals.
His 2018 selection among The Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America is the most recent honor in Mr. Godwin’s distinguished career. He has also been recognized multiple times as one of America’s Leading Commercial Litigation Lawyers by Chambers USA, among The Best Lawyers in America by Woodward-White and as one of the 100 Best Lawyers in Texas by Thomson Reuters. He has been chosen as one of the 50 Lions of the Texas Bar by Texas Lawbook and recognized in the American City Business Journal’s Who’s Who in Energy for 5 consecutive years, along with many other honors.
For Bruce W. Bowman Jr., Vice Chairman, Managing Shareholder and co-Chair of the Godwin Bowman & Martinez Commercial Litigation section, recognition among the 500 Leading Lawyers in America marks his second consecutive year receiving the honor. Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and the National Board of Trial Advocacy, he is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Bowman was a member of the State Bar of Texas Lawyers Creed Committee, has been recognized repeatedly among Thomson Reuters' Texas Super Lawyers and brings nearly a half century of experience and litigation success to his clients.

George R. Carlton Jr., a founding Shareholder of Godwin Bowman & Martinez, is being honored among the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America for the first time in 2018. Chair of the Firm's Mass Tort Litigation section, Mr. Carlton brings over 40 years of experience to his clients. Recognized on the list of the Best Lawyers in America since 2013 by Woodward-White, and rated AV "Preeminent" by Martindale Hubbell for the past 25 years, Mr. Carlton is one of the most highly respected attorneys in his field.
Shareholder Todd Shadle has been selected to Lawdragon's list of the 100 Most Powerful Employment Lawyers in 2018. Chair of the Godwin Bowman & Martinez Labor & Employment section, Mr. Shadle is Board Certified in Legal & Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He has been selected among the Best Lawyers in Dallas by D Magazine, included among the ranks of Texas Rising Stars by Thomson Reuters and is AV-Rated "Preeminent" by Martindale Hubbell.
Regarding the honors, Mr. Godwin said, “Having four attorneys from a mid-sized trial and appellate firm included among the top 500 lawyers in America is extraordinary, and having an additional Shareholder from our Firm named to the prestigious list of top employment lawyers makes these Lawdragon honors even more remarkable. From the start, our firm has been dedicated to giving clients our complete, fully committed effort. To see that philosophy lead to success for those we represent, and consequently having our peers and colleagues in the legal profession rank us among the very best attorneys in the country, is very gratifying.”
With fewer than 1/10 of 1% percent of the nation’s lawyers chosen, the Lawdragon 500 is one of the most coveted accolades for attorneys, and among the most elite guides in the legal profession. The selection process begins with law firm nominations, recommendations from peers, and online submissions, with final honorees chosen through an exhaustive editorial research process.
The 2018 Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America magazine will be published this fall and distributed to corporate counsel, private practitioners, academics and other leaders in the legal industry. The full Lawdragon 500 list can be found at www.Lawdragon.com.
