Godwin Bowman PC Chairman and CEO Donald E. Godwin was the keynote speaker at the University of Memphis’ 23rd Annual Fogelman College of Business & Economics Alumni Day Luncheon in November, 2015. The luncheon honored Outstanding Alumnus David Wedaman, the founder and CEO of Re Transportation, which boasts 45 offices nationally and over $500 million in annual revenue; Outstanding Young Alumnus Brett Norman, the founder of AgSmarts, helping agricultural producers boost their productivity and profitability while reducing the environmental impact of their operations; and Distinguished Friend, Charles McVean, the Chairman and CEO of McVean Trading & Investments in Memphis.
Mr. Godwin received his MBA in Accounting from the University of Memphis, and is both a top success story of the University, and an active and involved alum. Don is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). He received a J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 1973, an M.S. in Accounting from the University of Memphis in 1970 and a B.S. from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington in 1969. Reflecting the standard of long-term excellence established in his legal practice, he has been recognized in Chambers USA since 2014 in the area of General Commercial Litigation, honored by selection on the list of The Best Lawyers in America since 2012 in the area of Commercial Litigation, named to Texas Super Lawyers list of Top 100 Lawyers in Texas multiple times, and has most recently been named to the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America.
