Shawn M. McCaskill Earns Board Certification in Civil Appellate Law

Experienced Dallas appellate lawyer Shawn McCaskill, a shareholder in the Texas trial and appellate firm Godwin Bowman PC, has earned Board Certification in Civil Appellate Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

In order to secure Board Certification, an attorney must complete specific requirements established by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, in addition to passing a day-long written examination that focuses on Civil Appellate Law matters.

Mr. McCaskill has served as lead counsel in appellate cases throughout the state of Texas, including cases before the Supreme Court of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. His extensive work in appellate matters includes work in cases involving business contracts, insurance coverage, medical malpractice, product liability and premises liability.

Mr. McCaskill has earned five different individual selections to the Texas Rising Stars list published by Thomson Reuters, Legal Division, which recognizes the top young attorneys in the state.

A Dallas Bar Foundation Fellow, he previously served as a briefing attorney for the Hon. Justice Tom James of the Court of Appeals for the Fifth District of Texas at Dallas. Mr. McCaskill earned his law degree in 1998 from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio.
