Godwin Bowman founder Donald E. Godwin, the firm’s chairman and CEO, has been selected among the legal industry’s top leaders by Lawdragon in its 2026 edition of 100 Managing Partners You Need to Know.
Lawdragon says the Managing Partners list recognizes executives with the skills to manage independent-minded attorneys through “the hostile winds blowing through the global economy and the legal profession.”
Mr. Godwin has been at the helm of Godwin Bowman since it was formed in 1980. The firm recently was selected for a fourth consecutive year for the annual Chambers Spotlight Texas guide, which cited the firm’s excellence in commercial litigation.
While he remains an active leader and litigator, Mr. Godwin has amassed several career-spanning commendations, including his selection as a Living Legend by the Dallas Bar Association and receiving the Robert G. Storey Award for Distinguished Lifetime Achievement, the highest honor bestowed by the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
Mr. Godwin is board certified in civil trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has been included in the Lawdragon Hall of Fame, Lawdragon’s Leading Lawyers, Leading Litigators and Leading Family Lawyers guides, Benchmark Litigation, The Best Lawyers in America and Texas Super Lawyers.
